1974 Scia was founded as a technical software house, developing software on WANG and HP mini-computers, author of 2 programs ESA 2D (structural analysis) and Bestmix (animal feed optimization)
   
1976 Introduction of the first finite element program on desktop computers (esa-Plate) at a conference in Bournemouth
   
1979 Start of operations in Germany (Scia GmbH)
   
1984 Split between CAE and Feed Optimisation division
   
1985 Start of operations in Netherlands (Scia BV)
   
1990 Start of operations in France (Scia Sarl)
   
1993 Scia merged with W+B Software, a former software company of Witteveen + Bos Engineering Consultants (the Netherlands). This helped Scia to become the market leader in the Benelux for structural engineering software
   
1996 Scia teamed up with L.M.S. Intl. (Leuven Measurement Systems) and GIMV (the Investment Company for Flanders), reinforcing the equity
   
1997 start of operations in Austria (MB Integra, later renamed in Scia Datenservice)
   
1999 Start of cooperation & sales with CADS in U.K.
   
1999 Acquisition of IDA soft (Brno, Czech Rep.)
   
1999 OEM agreement with Kaltenbach (D) on CIM-Plate plate cutting NC software
   
2000 Acquisition of Smartsoft (Prague, Czech Rep.); IDA soft and Smartsoft were renamed to Scia CZ
   
2003 Scia invested in MAPS Diffusion S.A. to create Scia MAPS SA, which is targeting the Swiss market
   
2003 Start of cooperation & sales with Ingenieria Produccion in Spain
   
2005 Extending the development capacity with a team in Chennai (India)
   
2006 Start of cooperation & sales with CSI in India
   
2006 Nemetschek AG takes over shares of LMS, GIMV a.o. to become the reference shareholder of SCIA
   
2007 Nemetschek AG takes over all Scia Group shares
   
2008 Scia Group becomes Nemetschek Scia. A complete new corporate style has been launched
